The Queen’s Spicy Moose

When the coolness of winter settles in your bones, this whisky coffee recipe will help to warm you up from the inside out. Filled with maple tinged spices and strongly brewed coffee, The Queen’s Spicy Moose is the perfect antidote for the winter blues. Cozy up by a nice fire and drink the chill away!

  • 1 ounce whisky
  • 1 cup of strongly brewed coffee, Whisky Aged coffee is an outstanding option for this recipe
  • 1/2 ounce maple spice syrup (see recipe below)
  • 1/4 cup frothed milk
  • A sprinkle of cinnamon and a cinnamon stick for garnish

1.) Preheat your mug of choice and combine whisky and maple spice syrup into the cup. If your syrup was in the refrigerator allow it to come to room temperature before using.

2.) Add coffee to the mug until it is about 80% full and stir.

3.) Steam the milk and use a spoon to hold back the froth as you pour it into your coffee filled mug.

4.) Garnish with a sprinkle of cinnamon, and include a cinnamon stick for stirring.

5.) Enjoy!

Maple Spice Syrup

To make your own maple spice syrup combine a 1/4 cup maple syrup, with 1 star anise (or 1 teaspoon anise extract), 1 cinnamon stick, 2 cloves ( or 1 & 1/2 teaspoons ground clove), and 1/4 cup water in a sauce pan. Bring the contents to a boil and let it steep for 30 minutes. Strain the syrup into an airtight container and refrigerate any unused portion.
