Enjoy some steaming hot coffee layered between warm, sweet peppermint milk. Here is an easy layered coffee drink filled with the flavors of the holiday season.
Step 1: Add the following ingredients into a hand frother (or a bowl).
• 6 oz. milk
• 1/4 tsp. peppermint extract
• 1/4 tsp. sugar (optional)
Step 2: Heat the mixture until it starts to bubble.*
Step 3: Froth the milk mixture until a thick and sturdy foam forms.*
Step 4: Pour the frothed milk into a clear glass. Use a spoon to get as much foam in as possible. Fill the glass about 3/4 of the way.
Step 5: Invert a spoon and SLOWLY pour your steaming hot coffee into the frothed milk mixture.
Step 6: Watch the layers form! In about 60 seconds you should have a lovely 3 layer peppermint macchiato.
Step 7: For an extra special treat take a candy cane and dip it into the foamed milk, then rub it in sugar and serve with your drink as a sweet minty stirrer!
Step 8: Enjoy!
*I used a hand frother for my foamed milk. This is a wonderful and easy way to create foam.
