Coffee syrup is a wonderful alternative to syrups. My favorite uses are as a drizzle over desserts and ice cream. On days I’m feeling particularly nostalgic, I’ll use coffee syrup to make an old fashioned coffee milk. To make coffee syrup you will need:
- 6 tablespoons of water
- 6 tablespoons of light brown sugar
- 3 1/2 teaspoons of coffee essence
- 1/2 teaspoon of vanilla extract
- pinch of cinnamon (optional)
1). Over medium heat, whisk the water and sugar together until the sugar is fully dissolved.
2). Remove the mixture from heat and whisk in coffee essence, vanilla extract, and cinnamon until fully dissolved. Let the mixture cool and thicken. To make a coffee milk, just fill a glass 1/6th of the way with coffee syrup and the rest of the glass with milk. Enjoy!
