Create your own rejuvenating face, hair, and body coffee scrubs!

Ready to be let in on a lesser-known age and weariness-defying secret? Coffee applied topically works wonders on your skin and hair. Coffee grounds naturally exfoliate the skin / scalp while the caffeine tightens, brightens, and smoothens the skin. In this blog, we are sharing our three favorite coffee beauty concoctions. We hope they leave you as they left us — staring with awe at the results!

Exfoliating and softening body scrub

This wonderful scrub can be used as a nice hydrating body scrub or if you add a little brown sugar, an intense attack on cellulite.

  • ½ cup coffee grounds
  • ¼ cup coconut oil heated to room temperature
  • 1½ tablespoons vitamin E cream or 1/2 tablespoon vitamin E oil
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • ¼ teaspoon almond or vanilla extract
  • (optional for extra exfoliation) add ¼ cup brown sugar and an extra ¼ cup of coconut oil

Whisk all of the ingredients together until well-blended. Apply the rub to dry skin and let it sit for 20-30 seconds before rinsing it off with warm water. If you are using the extra sugar option, rub the scrub in for one minute for best results. This scrub will last for up to a month if stored in a sealed container at room temperature.

Firming and hydrating face mask

While trying not to be biased, this is hands-down, our favorite mask! Extraordinarily hydrating and brightening, this lovely face mask will leave your skin glowing! As a bonus, this mask can also be used to reduce wrinkles and fine lines on hands.

  • 2 tablespoons coffee grounds
  • 2 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon honey
  • 1 egg white, gently whisked
  • ½ teaspoon coconut oil or coconut butter heated to room temperature

Stir all of the ingredients together until the mixture begins to pull away from the sides of the bowl. Apply the mixture to your face and let it rest for 10-15 minutes before gently rinsing the mask away.

Hair cleaning and hydrating mask

Our hair cleaning and hydrating mask removes dead skin and residue from the scalp while adding hydration. One word of caution, caffeine applied directly to the scalp has been shown to stimulate hair growth so, if you have short hair, you may want to use this mask sparingly!

  • 6 tablespoons coffee grounds
  • 2 tablespoons coconut oil heated to room temperature
  • 2 teaspoon honey

Mix all of the ingredients together until well-blended. Dampen your hair / scalp and massage the mask into the hair for 5-10 seconds. For best results, let the mask sit for 10-15 minutes before shampooing it out. If you have dark hair, you can add extra shine to your hair by first rising the grounds out with a 1:1 ratio of brewed coffee and water.
