What’s The Deal With Bulletproof Coffee?

If you are a coffee lover, by now you have probably heard of bulletproof coffee. It is made from coffee and a few other ingredients. Drinking bulletproof coffee gives you energy, mental clarity, and it helps you lose weight. It is one of the easiest ways to lose weight and feel good doing it.

What’s in it?

The formula for bulletproof coffee was created by Dave Asprey. The ingredients he used are:

  • High-grade coffee
  • Butter made from grass-fed cows milk
  • High-quality MCT oil

Take note: MCT oil is easy to find in health food stores. If you cannot find it, you can substitute a good quality coconut oil. If you like the coconut flavor, you can add a small amount (½ to 1 teaspoon) to the bulletproof coffee with the MCT oil.

You expect the coffee to give you the energy you experience with all coffee drinks, but what do the fats do? These pure fats give your body “good” fats that keep you from getting hungry. They help your internal organs work at peak levels, and the best part is, they kick your metabolism into overdrive. To put it simply, this drink actually burns your body fat. Combined with a low carb diet, you will lose weight faster and feel better doing it. This without hunger is a winning combination.

Does it taste bad?

The best way to describe the taste is an espresso flavor with a nutty flavor from the coconut oil.

The results of bulletproof coffee are proven. Below are some tips to help you get the best results possible.

  • Use good ingredients
    • The quality of the coffee is a big factor in the effects of the end-product.
  • Use unsalted butter
    • The butter you use MUST be from grass-fed cows milk, and it must be unsalted.
  • Give it time
    • If you are not a fan of a strong brew, it may take you a little while to get used to the taste.
  • Build up to it
    • Take it slow. You are adding pure fat to your system. If you do that all at once, you are going to spend the first few days in the bathroom. Add your oils ½ teaspoon at a time.

Is this safe?

Yes. You probably know the way a low-carb diet works. When you restrict the amount of carbs (fat burning energy) into the body, it begins to burn stored body fat, and this means you lose weight. That is what you are doing. The coffee gives you the energy boost, and the oils provide quick energy. The body burns those pure oils and continues to burn the other fat that has been stored in the body.

As with any diet, it is a good idea to consult your doctor before trying something new. Stay within the guidelines. You must eat protein. Do not use the bulletproof coffee as a way to stop eating. Even if you are not hungry, add some small, high-protein meals to your day.
